Programme: Winter Internship Programme in Shenzhen

Taking part in this Internship Scheme over the winter break has been an incredibly rewarding experience. It gave me valuable exposure to China’s rapid development and its forward-thinking approach to innovation. Shenzhen, in particular, stands out as a hub of technology and entrepreneurship, embodying China’s ambition to lead in areas like fintech, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. This experience has deepened my understanding of China as a country that not only embraces cutting-edge advancements but also fosters a strong culture of growth and creativity.

What impressed me the most about the programme was how well-organized it was, especially with the company visits arranged during the weekends. Visiting BYD, for instance, was a highlight of the experience. Seeing their leadership in electric vehicles and green energy solutions was inspiring and gave me a deeper appreciation of how technology can tackle global challenges. As someone interning in a fintech company, I also found it fascinating to compare how different industries in Shenzhen are leveraging technology to reshape their markets. These visits gave me a broader perspective on innovation and how it drives development across sectors.

On a personal level, comparing the lifestyle in Shenzhen to Hong Kong was eye-opening. Shenzhen’s fast-paced, tech-savvy environment, where cashless payments and smart city infrastructure are fully integrated into daily life, felt futuristic and exciting. In contrast, Hong Kong’s more traditional yet cosmopolitan vibe has its own charm. Experiencing both cities helped me better understand their unique strengths and how they complement each other within the Greater Bay Area.

Finally, I would like to thank the China Vision Team for putting together such a meaningful and well-rounded programme. The combination of hands-on internship experience, insightful company visits, and cultural immersion has been invaluable. I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of Shenzhen’s innovative spirit!
