Programme: Heilongjiang Winter Experience Camp

Partner Institution: Heilongjiang University

Period: December 24 - 30, 2023

It is my immense honor to have been chosen by HKU to partake in the Heilongjiang Winter Experience Camp. This sojourn has proven to be profoundly beneficial, enriching my life in manifold ways. Through a multitude of diverse lectures, I have attained a profound understanding of China's developmental state, while unearthing the cultural reservoirs of Harbin and Heilongjiang. Notably, it has entirely revolutionized our cognizance of the progress in the Northeast region, thus remedying our prior misconceptions.

During the course of this educational voyage, under the assiduous guidance of mentors from Heilongjiang University, I have triumphantly acquired the art of ice skating and dual-board skiing. Commencing from ground zero on the path of mastering these crystalline pursuits, I underwent a profound immersion in their delightful essence, thereby attaining a gratifying sense of accomplishment while further basking in the irresistible allure of Heilongjiang and Harbin.

Undoubtedly, Harbin boasts a plethora of must-visit attractions, such as the venerable St. Sophia Cathedral, the resplendent Zhongyang Street, and the majestic Ice and Snow World. These landmarks greatly differ from the sites I have previously visited in other provinces, adding another exquisite piece to the mosaic of China's ice and snow beauty. Simultaneously, exploring these locales further deepened my comprehension of the emphasized dictum by President Xi, 'clear waters and green mountains are mountains of gold and silver, icy and snowy realms are also mountains of gold and silver' (綠水青山就是金山銀山、冰天雪地也是金山銀山).

Lastly, the experience of engaging in profound interactions with fellow students from Heilongjiang University is unquestionably the most prized jewel. This transcendental encounter surpasses what an ordinary travel excursion could bestow. The ardor and geniality exhibited by the students from Heilongjiang University imbued me with a distinctive warmth amidst the frigid environs of Harbin.

Having traversed this enlightening study tour, we aspire to become steadfast bridges for the exchange between Northeast China and Hong Kong, serving as vanguards and heralds of harmonious development between these two places.
