Programme: Shanghai, Hong Kong & Macao "Belt and Road Initiative" Study Programme
Partner Institution: Shanghai International Studies University
Period: Dec 23, 2024 - Jan 1, 2025

During this ten-day trip to Shanghai International Studies University, I gained a deep understanding of the concept of the Belt and Road Initiative, which gave me a new understanding of economic cooperation and cultural exchanges in today's world. The lecture was delivered by a number of experts, who not only elaborated on the background and significance of the Belt and Road Initiative, but also shared the important role China plays in the process of globalization. Listening to their explanations, I felt that this initiative was not only about economic connection, but also about cultural interaction and understanding.
In addition to academic nourishment, I also enjoyed the unique charm of the city of Shanghai. The tour of the deep-water port allowed me to witness the prosperity and vitality of Shanghai. The port scenery was picturesque, and the ships coming in and out seemed to be telling different stories. On the Bund in Shanghai, the skyscrapers and classical buildings on the opposite bank complement each other, forming an intersection of eras. I stood on the Bund, looking at the boats on the Huangpu River, feeling the pulse of the city and its desire for the future.

In the next few days, I specially arranged a trip to Yu Garden. The classical garden style of Yu Garden made me linger. Every inch of land between the pavilions and towers exudes a strong cultural atmosphere, making me feel as if I had traveled back to ancient times. As I strolled on the stone bridge, listening carefully to the sound of flowing water, and feeling the tranquility and beauty, my inner uneasiness and anxiety all dissipated.
After visiting Shanghai, I decided to visit the surrounding cities to enrich my travel experience. Suzhou is world-famous for its exquisite gardens, and the beauty of Gusu is amazing. The scenery of West Lake is incomparable. The lake surface is sparkling and Leifeng Pagoda stands on the side, as if guarding this beautiful waterway. The West Lake at night has a different charm. The lights are reflected on the lake, and the dreamlike scene fascinates me deeply. The night view of Hangzhou is particularly unforgettable. Lanterns hanging from the eaves illuminate the food stalls on both sides of the street. People here seem to be immersed in the happiness of enjoying delicious food. I tasted the local delicacies and shared the joy of this moment with my friends, which made the memories of this trip even more profound.
In general, this ten-day journey not only enriched my knowledge, but also allowed me to feel the integration of China's history and modernity, and made me look forward to future international exchanges. Every place left a deep impression on me, every communication stimulated my thinking, and these experiences will become an indispensable part of my life journey.
