Programme: Harbin Institute of Technology Global Summer School
Partner Institution: Harbin Institute of Technology
Period: July 1 - 28, 2024

I would like to express my gratitude to HKU China Vision for giving me the opportunity to attend the two-week summer school at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). HIT, a prestigious university in China and the first in the country to focus on the aerospace field, is known as the cradle of engineers. During these two weeks, I experienced a rich learning environment, a strong engineering culture, and an inspiring research atmosphere.

The activities included lectures, alumni talks, group projects, and extracurricular activities. In the lectures, the first week's theme was the mechanics of composite materials, which enriched our knowledge typically learned in the second and third years of university and laid a foundation for our group activities. In the second week, HIT invited Professor Shan from York University in Canada to introduce his laboratory and research projects, including meteorological survey systems and robust control systems.
The alumni talk broadened our horizons as we listened to academic reports from HIT alumni from various universities. In the extracurricular activities, we visited HIT's Aerospace Museum and the university's general museum, and most importantly, attended the Moon 2050 Conference, where we learned about the national strategies and plans for space development.

The group projects were particularly rewarding. Each student could choose a project of interest from five offered by HIT professors or associate professors and work on it with the guidance of the mentors and in collaboration with group members. Through communication with the mentors and my peers, I acquired new knowledge and learning methods, and I had the opportunity to continue research with the mentors in the future.
In addition to the activities mentioned, I met many esteemed teachers and fellow students, which makes me look forward to visiting HIT again for further studies. I would like to thank HKU China Vision once more for providing this valuable opportunity!
