Programme: Fudan University SOE: Online Winter School

Partner Institution: Fudan University

Period: December 21, 2020 - January 10, 2021

Though we were not able to have face-to-face class and experience learning in Shanghai physically, I still thanks to the opportunity to join this virtual winter school in three weeks.

To be honest, the course was intensive and the workload was not small. We had lectures every Tuesday to Friday, same on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Yet, it was a great chance for me to learn data science (python programming, statistical analysis, Tableau software). I definitely encountered difficulties while having such a tightly scheduled course, not only having 3.5 hours of lectures a day, but also the presentations on the final project every Friday, 11 assignments to be submitted and the final exam. It was hard for me but at last, I finished the course successfully. And it is also because of this, I could gain more knowledge of data science and train my endurance.

Thanks to this programme, my winter holiday had been enriched. It made my holiday that we were not allowed to travel more meaningful. I am sure the learning experience there would be even more precious and exciting as I could meet teachers and friends physically. Since the programme was conducted online, I did not really can have the chance to explore Shanghai and Fudan University, I could not tell what China vision have I developed, but I did feel the stress and intensiveness of study in a China’s top University. Competition was intense there. Still, I hope I will have the chance to visit Shanghai later after the pandemic and try to experience the study life there instead of virtual programmes.
